Restoration operations on as two flyovers collapse in UP, West Bengal

HIGHLIGHTS

  • Under-construction flyover on NH 28 collapsed in UP’s Basti.
  • One injured labourer is admitted to a district hospital.
  • In Siliguri’s Phansidewa, a portion of NH 31D’s railway flyover guarder collapsed.

Two incidents of flyovers collapsing were reported Saturday morning, one from Uttar Pradesh’s Basti and the other from Siliguri in West Bengal.

In Uttar Pradesh, an under-construction flyover on National Highway 28 collapsed in Basti district.

One labourer working overnight was injured in the accident that took place between 7 am and 7:30 am. He is currently receiving treatment at the district hospital.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath taking stock of the incident directed district administration to take up all effective measures and ensure smooth movement of traffic.

In West Bengal’s Siliguri, a portion of National Highway 31D’s four-lane railway flyover guarder collapsed in Phansidewa. No casualties were reported.

Restoration work is underway.
